Course Description:
This is the second of the preaching practicums in the Sunset curriculum that emphasizes pulpit
preaching. The primary objective is that students will continue to develop as preachers of God’s
Word by preparing and delivering Bible-based sermons that are prepared with a Biblical topic in
mind. Students are expected to show a good balance of biblical explanation and practical
application, using the principles taught in the “Introduction to Homiletics” course and the
previous preaching practicums.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on the topic of preaching from the Old Testament. Since it is a
practicum course, attention will be given to student preparation and delivery of select
sermon topics from different Old Testament genres such as narrative, poetic, prophetic and
wisdom literature.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Public Speaking 7 provides the student with an opportunity to practice the “art” of responding to questions and comments in an impromptu manner.
Students will also be given instruction on how to begin preparing and delivering a lesson for Ladies’ Day and Retreat themes that will result in their Public Speaking 8 senior talk.
